Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Storage South Ruislip and outlines the steps we take to prevent modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation within our operations and our supply chains. We are committed to conducting business ethically and with integrity, and we recognise our responsibility to identify and address risks of modern slavery wherever they may arise.
Our Organisation and Supply Chain
Storage South Ruislip provides storage and related services to individuals and businesses. While our direct operations are relatively straightforward, we rely on a range of suppliers for products and services including facility maintenance, security, cleaning, utilities, equipment, and professional services. We understand that modern slavery risks can exist at any stage of a supply chain, and we are committed to managing those risks in a proportionate and effective manner.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
Storage South Ruislip has a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. This zero-tolerance policy applies to all employees, agency workers, contractors, suppliers, and any other third parties who work with or on behalf of Storage South Ruislip. We will not knowingly engage with any party involved in modern slavery or human trafficking, and we reserve the right to terminate relationships with any organisation or individual found to be in breach of this principle.
We expect all those within our sphere of influence to uphold the same high standards and to comply with all applicable laws relating to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and labour rights.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect our suppliers to operate ethically, transparently, and in compliance with all relevant laws. As part of our supplier management process, we:
Require suppliers to confirm that they do not tolerate modern slavery or human trafficking within their own operations or supply chains, and that they maintain policies and practices designed to prevent such abuses.
Assess suppliers proportionately based on factors such as geographic location, nature of goods or services, and known sector risks, with enhanced due diligence where higher risks are identified.
Reserve the right to conduct supplier audits or request evidence demonstrating compliance, including policies, training records, and details of their own supply chain oversight.
Expect suppliers to cooperate fully with any audits and to promptly address any issues identified. Failure to meet our standards may result in corrective action requirements or, where appropriate, termination of the business relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
We encourage a culture of openness in which concerns about modern slavery, human trafficking, or other unethical conduct can be raised without fear of retaliation. Employees, contractors, suppliers, and others connected to our business are encouraged to report any suspicions or concerns through internal reporting channels or directly to senior management.
All reports will be treated seriously and, where appropriate, investigated promptly and confidentially. We will take suitable action where modern slavery risks or incidents are identified, which may include notifying relevant authorities, working with suppliers on remediation, or ending relationships with offending parties.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to increasing awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff and key suppliers. Relevant employees receive information and guidance on spotting indicators of modern slavery, the importance of vigilance in our operations and supply chain, and how to report concerns. We review our training needs on an ongoing basis to ensure they remain appropriate and effective.
Monitoring, Governance, and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery rests with Storage South Ruislip senior management, who ensure that policies, procedures, and controls remain effective and proportionate. We monitor our practices, review supplier performance where relevant, and consider changes in law, best practice, and risk factors.
This statement and our wider approach to modern slavery are reviewed at least annually. The annual review considers the effectiveness of our actions, lessons learned, and any need for enhanced measures. Updates to this statement will reflect the steps we have taken and plan to take to strengthen our response to modern slavery risks.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement has been approved by the leadership of Storage South Ruislip and represents our ongoing commitment to ethical conduct, human rights, and the prevention of exploitation in all its forms.
